Description

Due to the large variety of non-reference Graphic Cards, we are unable to test and verify compatibility for all cards. This does not mean the G12 will not work with your GPU. Turns out in my re-configuration of fans, the AIO fan was running at a low speed and the air was effectively cooling the GPU passively.

GeForce RTX* 2080, 2080 Ti**, Titan X, Titan, Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, 1080, 1070, 1060, 980 Ti, 980, 970, 960, 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760***, 680, 670, 660Ti, 660, 580, 570 The NZXT Kraken G12 is essentially a mounting kit designed to allow for attachment to a graphics card in conjunction with a closed loop liquid cooler (AIO). Not only does the G12 support NZXTs Kraken X42/X52/X62 all in one coolers, but models from companies such as Corsair, Antec, Thermaltake and even Zalman. A full compatibility list can be found below in the technical specifications, but here is what NZXT has to say about their Kraken G12:

From the Manufacturer

RX 590, 580, 570, 480, 470, R9 390X****, 390***, 380X****, 380, 290X****, 290****, 285***, 280X****, 280****, 270X, 270, R7 370, HD7970****, 7950****, 7870, 7850, 6970, 6950, 6870, 6850, 6790, 6770, 5870, 5850, 5830

The best element of the NZXT Kraken G12 is how well it performs in conjunction with NZXT’s own Kraken X42 AIO CPU cooler. In our testing, we managed to shave an additional 20c off the load temperatures with the ASUS GTX 1060 STRIX graphics card which already has one of the best air-cooled solutions installed in the shape of the DirectCU III GPU cooler. This isn’t just good, but it’s absolutely great. The idle temperatures are also good, but in comparison, the margin looks bigger as the DirectCU III features a semi-passive design. The Kraken G12 supports both reference and non-reference design AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, for more than 30 liquid AIOs, including aftermarket VRM heatsinks. Thermaltake: Water 3.0 Riing RGB 360, 280, 240, Red 280, 140 - Water 3.0 Ultimate - Extreme S, Extreme, Pro, Performer - Water 2.0 Extreme, Pro, PerformerThe G12 comes with two little foam supports on the right side, I found these to interfere with the capacitors of the GPU and actually caused the GPU flex very slightly as they were too long so I just took them off, not necessary at all. Below is a reference image that gives you a better idea of placement. Please use your best judgment when using the Kraken G12 with a non-reference card. Keep in mind that the Kraken G12 does void the warranty of your GPU. Misuse or mishandling is not covered by NZXT.GeForce RTX* 2080**, 2080 Ti**, 2070**, Titan X, Titan, Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, 1080, 1070, 1060, 980 Ti, 980, 970, 960, 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760***, 680, 670, 660Ti, 660, 580, 570 According to the compatibility list, RTX 2080 cards should be supported regardless of PCB style, as only the 2080 Ti cards are marked as only supporting reference PCBs: RX 590, 580, 570, 480, 470, R9 390X**, 390*, 380X**, 380, 290X**, 290**, 285*, 280X**, 280**, 270X, 270, R7 370, HD7970**, 7950**, 7870, 7850, 6970, 6950, 6870, 6850, 6790, 6770, 5870, 5850, 5830

The Mosfets located on the right side of the card, so that the G12 Fan will provide sufficient cooling. After installing and playing some BFV at the same settings I noticed the temperatures were good! In the low 50sC BUT they were rising very slowly but surely to the high 60s. I was pretty frustrated at first and when I touched the AIO hoses and rad, they were very hot! So I was started to get frustrated thinking all this was a waste OR my AIO pump was dead maybe but I could hear it working. The Kraken G12 comes with a 92mm fan, providing active cooling for the VRM and memory on the graphics card.Titan X, Titan, Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, 1080, 1070, 1060, 980 Ti, 980, 970, 960, 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760, 680, 670, 660Ti, 660, 580, 570 Titan X, Titan, Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, 1080, 1070, 1060, 980 Ti, 980, 970, 960, 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760, 680, 670, 660Ti, 660, 580, 570. The rise in popularity of AIO’s over the last few years with enthusiasts and general PC users has reached an all-time high and virtually all of the elite CPU cooling companies (barring Noctua) have at least one model of closed loop liquid cooling systems available for sale. With all these liquid AIO options being available for processors and CPUs, what about graphics cards? Would a similar system work as well for graphics cards and how could something be implemented at a low cost, but efficient, temperature reducing way?
